Statistics: Russia’s inflation still at 0.1% in Feb 26–Mon

MOSCOW, Mar 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s consumer price inflation stayed at 0.1% for the fifth week in a row from February 26 through Monday and reached 1.5% since January 1, the Federal State Statistics Service said on Wednesday.

In the reported week, prices for millet rose by 2.3%, for lamb meat by 0.9%, for buckwheat, and vermicelli by 0.5%, for bread, chocolate sweets, and caramel by 0.3%, and for beef, curd, margarine, flour, cookies, and salt by 0.2%.

At the same time, prices for chicken eggs decreased by 1.1%, for poultry by 0.6%, and for sugar by 0.1%.

Fruit and vegetable prices grew 0.6% on average, including onion prices rising by 4%, cabbage by 3.2%, and cucumber and carrot prices by 2.1%. Tomatoes became 0.2% cheaper, while prices for potatoes and apples eased by 0.1%.

Gasoline and diesel fuel prices fell 0.1%.

The service also said that Russia’s inflation amounted to 0.4% in monthly terms and sped up to 5.2% in annual terms in February.
